The Chairman does not run the club, but is responsible for the running of the club (there is a difference). This includes guiding the committee and making sure (with the Secretary) that all the the GCCF requirements are carried out. That during any discussion “Rules of Debate” are followed. (You could write a book on the Rules of Debate, and some people have.) It is the Chairmans job to ensure that in any vote the correct procedure is followed (Proposers, Seconders, Amendments are in the correct order etc. and having done this he does not even have a vote (except a deciding vote, and even then he usually votes to retain the status quo (no, not them) The Vice Chairmans job is exactly the same as the Chairmans when the he is not present at a meeting. He also has other duties at the AGM. |
